Innova-tsn at PyConES 2024
The PyConES 2024 event, held from 4 to 6 de October at the Auditorio Mar de Vigo, brought together over 800 Python enthusiasts at one of the most important conferences on this programming language in Spain.
The event gathered Python developers and engineers to share knowledge, projects and technological innovations in a space for collaboration and learning, with an agenda full of talks and workshops covering a wide variety of topics, from Artifical Intelligence and Big Data to the development of video games and mobile applications. Attendees were able to share knowledge from environments as diverse as data science, DevOps development and the Internet of Things.
The PyConES 2024 agenda incluided high-profile talks such as the Keynotes by IBM’s Ismael Faro, who talked about Python apllications in quantum computing and AI or Anna Colom, who dealt with responsibility in the use of data and artificial intelligence in her talk named “Menos ‘hype’, más responsabilidad”. The three days were packed with workshops aimed at multiple fields of development in Python and they explored diverse areas such as Machine Learning, API development, MLOps, data engineering, as well as the applications of the language in actual projects such as the detection of illegal tourist apartments. The event culminated on Sunday with interactive activities, hackathons and talks on the use of Python in artistic and scientific fields, highlighting the breadth and diversity of uses of this language.
As usual in the PyConEs annual meetings, besides all the training sessions, interaction between attendees and the labour market was encouraged. In this context, the event not only focused on the technical part of the speakers, but also promoted social and professional interaction, offering spaces for networking between the attendees and the sponsoring companies. Throughout the three days, practical worshops were offered, with sessions lasting up to 90 minutes. In them, attendees could experimente on emerging technologies, solve problems and collaborate in real-time projects.
Our colleagues Fernando, Diego, Jaime and Roberto attended the event were able to participate in several talks throughout the tree days. Those three days were, according to what they told us, both interesting and dynamic.
Jaime Sande, Roberto Doncel, Fernando Sebastián and Diego Merino at the PyConEs 2024 in Vigo.
"PyConES 2024 in Vigo was a very enriching experience. The talks were very interesting, showing the application of Python in very diverse fields, from the fight against misinformation to the optimisation of videogames and data analysis for sustainability. It allowed us to see how Machine Learning and Deep Learning techniques are being used to tackle complex problems in different sectors. In addition, the event provided the opportunity to connect with professionals from all kinds of sectors and learn from their experiences with Python in real-world projects.
One of the talks I enjoyed the most was ‘The Great Disinformation Tsunami: How Generative AI can help us win the battle against Fake News’ by Newtral. The talk highlighted the importance of using generative AI as a tool to combat online disinformation and showed concrete examples of how data pipelines and analytics are being developed to verify information. I also really enjoyed Argilla's talk on ‘distilabel’, which explored the potential of synthetic data generation for training language models."
FERNANDO SEBASTIÁN
"PyConEs was a fantastic opportunity to keep myself updated and solve some doubts I had about how to improve processes. As for me, with a profile more oriented to technology and process efficiency, my interest was focused on the talks focused on data processing, both in terms of tools and ways to deal with the limitations of Python. In this sense, I would highlight the talk by the NucliaDB team, who explained how they created their document indexing application in order to be able to perform searches, whether by words, paragraphs or semantics.
In addition, I really enjoyed the ML-focused activities, especially the workshops that were organised. I learned more about conformal prediction, pattern search and PINNs. Listening to the speakers and exchanging doubts with the attendees was very positive. All in all, PyConEs was a very enriching experience that I am very grateful to have been able to attend.

For Innova-tsn these of events are, without a doubt, an essential opportunity for our team to keep up to date with the lastest trends. These types of conferences not only allow attendees to learn from industry leaders, but also offer them the chance to interact directly with other professionals and companies, thus boosting their personal and professional growth.
In this sense, the atmosphere at PyConES was notably collaborative thanks to the effort of volunteers from the Python Community and the participation of over 20 corporate sponsors who contributed to making PyConES 2024 a diverse, enriching and inclusive event.
In short, this meeting not only offered a unique opportunity to learn and connect with other members of the Python Community but also reaffirmed itself as a key event for the promotion of innovation in the technology sector.
For Innova-tsn, it is essential to continue supporting participation in events such as PyConES, as it reinforces our commitment to the development and training of our team, as well as its constant updating on trends and developments in a constantly evolving sector.
