Innova-tsn and the Technical University of Madrid create a University Chair in Analytics in the Digital Society

One of the goals of this Chair is to promote collaboration between the university, innovation, technology, society, and business in the field of the smart use of data. The company will set up internship programmes for students and will participate in the employment forums organised by the academic institution.

The Technical University of Madrid (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid) and consulting company Innovación Tecnológica y Soluciones de negocio, S.L. (Innova-tsn) begin a new collaboration with the signing of the Universidad-Empresa Chair in Analytics in the Digital Society. Both organisations have been working together on other initiatives for almost five years and this Chair is the result of these previous years and their shared project.

This Chair’s goal is to promote collaboration between the university, innovation, technology, society, and business in the field of the smart use of data. The agreement for the implementation of the Chair was signed by UPM Rector Mr. Guillermo Cisneros, and by Mr. José Antonio Luque, CEO of Innova-tsn.

The University Chair will carry out, among other actions, specialised courses and seminars and/or sessions and conferences on matters of mutual interest, geared towards a successful labour market insertion of university graduates in the business world. Furthermore, Innova-tsn will participate in employment forums aimed at UPM students, will set up internship programmes for students and will promote awards and acknowledge for outstanding students. The Directors of the Monitoring Committee will be Ms. Elena Villalba, PhD and Associated Professor attached to the Dept. of Computer Languages and Systems and Software Engineering at the Computing Engineering School of the Technical University of Madrid (ETS de Ingenieros Informáticos) and Ms. Rosario Garrido, Manager at Innova-tsn. Both will organise joint activities related to the promotion and dissemination of scientific culture and will pay special attention to those aimed at promoting technological knowledge in society, “with special emphasis on vulnerable groups, such as children and teenagers with learning difficulties, or the elderly”, Villalba and Garrido said.

At the act of presentation of the Chair which was attended by Innova-tsn CEO Mr. José Antonio Luque, Mr. Guillermo Cisneros, Rector of the Technical University of Madrid, thanked the company for its commitment to training and research through the organisation and stressed that “in our goal to support society, this Chair intends to promote the use of data analytics for improving society, with special emphasis on vulnerable groups such as people with learning disabilities such as autism or attention deficit disorder and the elderly.” Luque added that “it is of utmost importance to train future computing engineers not only on the technological aspects of data, but also on their social implications.”   

Besides Ms. Elena Villalba, the act was also attended by Angélica de Antonio, Jaime Ramírez, Cristian Moral, Antonio Cobo, Ricardo Imbert, David Medrano and José María Barambones, on behalf of the Technical University of Madrid and Rosario Garrido, José Ignacio Bernaldo, Begoña Vega, Nuria Estebas and Mencía Vega, on behalf of the consulting company.
